June 3rd -9th


This has been a wonderful week.  Last Saturday we were taught by an Apostle, Elder Dale G Renlund, Elder Carl Cook of the Presidents of the Seventy, Elder Brian Taylor of the Seventy. We had a 4 hour Spiritual Feast. Let us relate a couple of thoughts that the they taught
Elder Renlund taught that Apostles, 70's, and Missionaries have the same calling
Exodus. 24: 1, 9 to bear testimony of God
Num. 11: 4  miracles every day but they complain,  gather 70 and let them stand to share the work of the Prophet
Luke 12:  the seventy to help apostles
D&C 107:25  special witness of Christ
He brought greetings from the Prophet:
                  Thank you for serving
                 You are Called by prophecy to serve here. You have a specific reason to be here.
                   Mission President called by an Apostle through revelation

Sister Renlund.  Be natural and use normal language
Where do you find people, it is where they gather.

What a privilege we had to have been there, and feel the Spirit and then on our shift working on Sunday night to have them visit us at the Trail Center. Elder White even was able to help Elder Cook locate an ancestor in the Pioneer Cemetery, he was so excited. Elder Taylor was very appreciative of Senior Missionaries and thanked us for serving
Thinking of prophets I ran across this the other day
5 things to know.     First President Nelson shared five things to know:
1.  Know the truth and stand for it, even if the truth is not politically popular. “As the world grows more and more secular and less spiritual, your growth should be more and more spiritual and less secular. Strive to stand for principle instead for popularity.”
2.  Know and see yourself as the Creator sees you. “You are created in His image—male and female. You are divinely created. … Take care of your body.”
3.   Know you are accountable for your deeds and for your desires.
4.    Know your true identity. “You are the seed of Abraham, the seed of Isaac, the seed of Jacob.”
5.    Know your purpose. “You were sent to earth for a reason. Find out what that is. ... Apply your knowledge to the benefit and blessing of other people.
May we all strive to follow the teachings of the Prophets and feel of their spirit.

Christmastime at Winter Quarters is exciting.  This has been a busy week with Zone Conference, Gingerbread, and many Sister Missionaries leaving the Trail Center for home, but a thought about Christmas shared at our Trail Center Training on Saturday morning we thought you would enjoy. Christmas is many things to many people — from the eager, materialistic grasping of a child for a present to the deep spiritual thankfulness of the mature heart for the gift of a Savior.  If there is one common denominator, perhaps it is this:  Christmas is love.  Christmas is the time when the bonds of family love transcend distance and inconvenience.  It is a time when love of neighbor rises above petty day-to-day irritations, and doors swing open to give and receive expressions of appreciation and affection. April 16th -22nd

Heber C Kimball, Brigham Young, Willard Richards, This week was spent working mostly at the Kainesville Tabernacle. The Tabernacle is the location in church History where on December 27, 1847.  Brigham Young was sustained by the members of the Church as President of the Church. with Heber C Kimball and Willard Richards sustained as his counselors.  It is one of those places not often visited by people on the Church History tours. Located in Council Bluffs, Iowa it is a peaceful and sacred place. In the Tabernacle is where Oliver Cowdery came back to the Church and was baptized in a creek in the area.  In our family history Mary Ann Huntsman was married to Thomas Green by Orson Hyde in the tabernacle on January 31 1849. March 5th - 11th

Windows Celestial Room facing Cemetery Another busy week here at Winter Quarters and some new things to experience. Tours are picking up with more people visiting both the Trail Center and the Tabernacle. Had tours in both places this week.  We had a great experience Tuesday night. We were invited to the Mission President's home to have dinner with the 11 new missionaries (8 Elders and 3 Sisters). They arrived Monday night and on Tuesday they had dinner and a Testimony Meeting, then they got their first assignment and who they will be training with.  We were invited because we just missed the last new missionary dinner. It was a very spiritual experience. Wednesday we were able to serve in the Temple when the departing Missionaries got to go before they went home the next day.
