Heber C Kimball, Brigham Young, Willard Richards,
This week was spent working mostly at the Kainesville Tabernacle. The Tabernacle is the location in church History where on December 27, 1847.  Brigham Young was sustained by the members of the Church as President of the Church. with Heber C Kimball and Willard Richards sustained as his counselors.  It is one of those places not often visited by people on the Church History tours. Located in Council Bluffs, Iowa it is a peaceful and sacred place. In the Tabernacle is where Oliver Cowdery came back to the Church and was baptized in a creek in the area.  In our family history Mary Ann Huntsman was married to Thomas Green by Orson Hyde in the tabernacle on January 31 1849. It is such a wonderful place to work and to serve.

Teaching Spanish Ward, with a translator!

Sister White gets to give the tours in the small Visitors Center and to present the history of the area as pertaining to the founding of the City of Kainesville when the Mormons were here between  1846 and 1852.   She also gets to teach about the Mormon Battalion, the march to California and their courage.  This week was pretty busy with the small groups that came to visit. There was one group that was 70 members of the Spanish Branch from Omaha and they wanted to learn about the history of the Church in this area and the sustaining of a prophet. We did not realize that they have very little knowledge about Pioneer History,

Teaching a Small Family

Teaching is a great opportunity and helps us grow in the gospel. This small family from Idaho was here to learn Church History as a home school project. They had visited all the historic sites from Palmyra to here. They were headed to the Mormon Trail Center at Winter Quarters, and then headed home.  They looked forward to seeing Scott's Bluffs and Martins Cove before returning home.
