Spring is Here

Visitors are picking up at both the Trail Center and the Tabernacle.   Spring /Summer has arrived temperatures ranged from the 20's to the 80's, flowers are finally blooming and leaves and blossoms are on the trees. Humidity is rising and Elder White had to buy some short sleeve white shirts.

Monday was the monthly senior dinner, Sister White was on the committee.  A preparation that took about a month. After all the worry it came off well.  The dinner was excellent and a special program about Elder McConkie 's last testimony, and the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ was outstanding!  It was highlighted with Sister Taggart singing "I Believe in Christ" that he wrote.  It is great to have the opportunity for the Senior Couples to share these kinds of experiences together. The testimony of Elder McConkie:

 “And now, as pertaining to this perfect atonement, wrought by the shedding of the blood of God—I testify that it took place in Gethsemane and at Golgotha, and as pertaining to Jesus Christ, I testify that he is the Son of the Living God and was crucified for the sins of the world. He is our Lord, our God, and our King. This I know of myself independent of any other person. I am one of his witnesses, and in a coming day I shall feel the nail marks in his hands and in his feet and shall wet his feet with my tears. But I shall not know any better then than I know now that he is God’s Almighty Son, that he is our Savior and Redeemer, and that salvation comes in and through his atoning blood and in no other way." Elder Bruce R McConkie April 1985

Sister White is a great Missionary in our Senior Apartments. She has made friends with a lot of the people living there. Young Elders are teaching some investigators here.



Isn't life interesting sometimes? We came clear to Omaha Nebraska to meet some people from Farmington!  We are glad we have new friends we have served with, the Taggarts, even if we are sending them home May 7.


Great talking to the family by hangouts. We are glad for the monthly family home evenings. We pray for our family in their individual struggles and trials, and greatly rejoice with them in their success. We know that everyone will have trials and struggles, but it's how you deal with those trials that make you who you are.  President Russell Nelson said, "God's Holy Angels are ever in call to help us". President Monson said " your future is as bright as your faith". May you all see the blessings in your life ☺

Christmastime at Winter Quarters is exciting.  This has been a busy week with Zone Conference, Gingerbread, and many Sister Missionaries leaving the Trail Center for home, but a thought about Christmas shared at our Trail Center Training on Saturday morning we thought you would enjoy. April 16th -22nd

Heber C Kimball, Brigham Young, Willard Richards, This week was spent working mostly at the Kainesville Tabernacle. The Tabernacle is the location in church History where on December 27, 1847.  Brigham Young was sustained by the members of the Church as President of the Church. with Heber C Kimball and Willard Richards sustained as his counselors.  It is one of those places not often visited by people on the Church History tours. Located in Council Bluffs, Iowa it is a peaceful and sacred place. In the Tabernacle is where Oliver Cowdery came back to the Church and was baptized in a creek in the area.  In our family history Mary Ann Huntsman was married to Thomas Green by Orson Hyde in the tabernacle on January 31 1849. March 5th - 11th

Windows Celestial Room facing Cemetery Another busy week here at Winter Quarters and some new things to experience. Tours are picking up with more people visiting both the Trail Center and the Tabernacle. Had tours in both places this week.  We had a great experience Tuesday night. We were invited to the Mission President's home to have dinner with the 11 new missionaries (8 Elders and 3 Sisters). They arrived Monday night and on Tuesday they had dinner and a Testimony Meeting, then they got their first assignment and who they will be training with.  We were invited because we just missed the last new missionary dinner. It was a very spiritual experience. Wednesday we were able to serve in the Temple when the departing Missionaries got to go before they went home the next day.
