March 25th to April 1st

Monday started as a really good week, thinking all we had to do was work our shifts at the Trail Center and Tabernacle. Working the morning shift on Monday is really a great time. We have a devotional with the Sisters and prayer then we open the Trail Center. Things were going great when the Director called me in and asked if Sister White and I could do the Saturday morning training for the Sisters and Senior Couples. We just commented last Saturday how we were lucky we did not have to train. When you serve in a mission where the President and Trail Center Director can quote scripture and give lessons that are so good, it is hard to think that we are knowledgeable enough to train in their footsteps.  That made the week very intense; lost sleep and constant prayer. Since Sunday was Easter we chose to do the last few days of Christ's mortal life.  Sister White was able to use the years of training and do the Last Supper, Gethsemane, the Trial, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection. Elder White was able to put together a power point presentation. After preparing  all week, we settled down Friday night with prayer, asking for Heavenly Father's help. Both of us had the best night's sleep in a week. Training went well and we were so thankful the Spirit was so strong.  Saturday was a relief.

Friday was Zone Conference and what a great training on Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. Based on President Nelson's last Conference talk in October, What we would not know if we did not have the Book of Mormon? We learned so much in the last month studying it.
We had the privilege to listen to all of President Nelson's talks since he was ordained an apostle.  Thanks to Bryan we took the challenge to do that, which we finished last week.

Also were able to to pass off the first set of Basic Doctrinal Scriptures. We passed them off and received our Missionary Journals.

What a great General Conference!! We will start studying those great talks tomorrow.  We hope all will review and follow the teachings, and Read the Book of Mormon everyday.

Christmastime at Winter Quarters is exciting.  This has been a busy week with Zone Conference, Gingerbread, and many Sister Missionaries leaving the Trail Center for home, but a thought about Christmas shared at our Trail Center Training on Saturday morning we thought you would enjoy. April 16th -22nd

Heber C Kimball, Brigham Young, Willard Richards, This week was spent working mostly at the Kainesville Tabernacle. The Tabernacle is the location in church History where on December 27, 1847.  Brigham Young was sustained by the members of the Church as President of the Church. with Heber C Kimball and Willard Richards sustained as his counselors.  It is one of those places not often visited by people on the Church History tours. Located in Council Bluffs, Iowa it is a peaceful and sacred place. In the Tabernacle is where Oliver Cowdery came back to the Church and was baptized in a creek in the area.  In our family history Mary Ann Huntsman was married to Thomas Green by Orson Hyde in the tabernacle on January 31 1849. March 5th - 11th

Windows Celestial Room facing Cemetery Another busy week here at Winter Quarters and some new things to experience. Tours are picking up with more people visiting both the Trail Center and the Tabernacle. Had tours in both places this week.  We had a great experience Tuesday night. We were invited to the Mission President's home to have dinner with the 11 new missionaries (8 Elders and 3 Sisters). They arrived Monday night and on Tuesday they had dinner and a Testimony Meeting, then they got their first assignment and who they will be training with.  We were invited because we just missed the last new missionary dinner. It was a very spiritual experience. Wednesday we were able to serve in the Temple when the departing Missionaries got to go before they went home the next day.
