May 21st to May 27th

Winter Quarters is hot, Saturday and Sunday the Temperature was over 101 degrees,
both records, Humidity 70 %. Not use to it yet.
We have to dress in suit coats all day when giving tours and are outside a
lot at the Kanesville Tabernacle.



Our monthly Senior Dinner was the first of the week. Had an enjoyable time with the
senior missionaries, we have grown close to them just like on our Inner-city Mission.  
Getting together and enjoying an evening once a month is fun.
A young man with his family coming through the Mormon Trail Center came up to me
and ask if we had oil at the center, he had to give his daughter a blessing because she had
smashed her finger in the door.  It is a privilege to have the authority to bless people who need it.
Elder White gave a tour to a couple from Germany. They spoke very little English but
the Spirit was strong. He asked if he could have missionaries visit in a couple of weeks.
They said Yes, and the wife said, “Oh yes please we need that”. The missionaries had given
them a German Book of Mormon and they had been reading it since they left Salt Lake City.☺
Sister White spoke in Church on Sunday, the first time she had to give a talk with an
interpreter. We love meeting with the Karen People.They are planning a group party
next month. They are asked to bring something, hope it is something Americans can eat.
Planted my Garden here in Omaha well, 5 tomato plants and 3 cucumbers
hope they grow. I really want a fresh tomato, the are expensive here.










I am having a hard time limiting myself on finding names for the temple, I have
539 ordinances to do. I am limiting my search to 10 names a day. One day in
working on 10 names found 30 temple ordinances. If anyone would like me to
send you some send your email so I can send them to you.

Christmastime at Winter Quarters is exciting.  This has been a busy week with Zone Conference, Gingerbread, and many Sister Missionaries leaving the Trail Center for home, but a thought about Christmas shared at our Trail Center Training on Saturday morning we thought you would enjoy. April 16th -22nd

Heber C Kimball, Brigham Young, Willard Richards, This week was spent working mostly at the Kainesville Tabernacle. The Tabernacle is the location in church History where on December 27, 1847.  Brigham Young was sustained by the members of the Church as President of the Church. with Heber C Kimball and Willard Richards sustained as his counselors.  It is one of those places not often visited by people on the Church History tours. Located in Council Bluffs, Iowa it is a peaceful and sacred place. In the Tabernacle is where Oliver Cowdery came back to the Church and was baptized in a creek in the area.  In our family history Mary Ann Huntsman was married to Thomas Green by Orson Hyde in the tabernacle on January 31 1849. March 5th - 11th

Windows Celestial Room facing Cemetery Another busy week here at Winter Quarters and some new things to experience. Tours are picking up with more people visiting both the Trail Center and the Tabernacle. Had tours in both places this week.  We had a great experience Tuesday night. We were invited to the Mission President's home to have dinner with the 11 new missionaries (8 Elders and 3 Sisters). They arrived Monday night and on Tuesday they had dinner and a Testimony Meeting, then they got their first assignment and who they will be training with.  We were invited because we just missed the last new missionary dinner. It was a very spiritual experience. Wednesday we were able to serve in the Temple when the departing Missionaries got to go before they went home the next day.
