TRAVELING TO THE MISSION FIELD
Sunday January 21st
Spent Sunday at the Missionary Training Center, a full day of Church and Devotionals. The interesting thing that I observed was that Sunday is cereal only for breakfast, all the Elders with 3 or 4 bowls and here I am with only one. Not my favorite breakfast. They didn't even have hot oatmeal or cream of wheat. Sunday Sacrament Meeting was given by an Elder and Sister going to England and Priesthood meeting was by an Elder going to Chicago to be in the office with his wife. Great meetings. There is no Sunday School at the MTC only missionary discussion. The Devotionals were both great, one on departure and one on Missionary Discussion. Sisters also went to one called Matching the Master so we could help the younger sisters with dress and other rules.
Monday January 22nd.
We went to the Salt Lake Temple Square for training on how to give tours. We were there with 3 other couples going to the Visitors Centers or Historic Sites. Our favorite part of the tour was God's Plan for Families. The next time you are there be sure to see it. Here is my favorite picture for the day.

The Handcart Monument
This is the monument that is the most photographed. We found a whole new feeling with the snow on the monument and the holes in the pioneer's clothing. We traveled back to the MTC for further training that afternoon.
Tuesday January 23rd
We continued training at the MTC about working at Historic Sites, our trainers were Brother John and Sister Carolyn Toronto from Farmngton. At 3:30 we left the MTC to get ready to go to Omaha. We ate dinner at Paulynn's and celebrated Spencer's Birthday, We are so glad we could see many of the family. Packing the car with the help of several of our Granddaughters was quite the experience! It was fun! We were completely stuffed! leaving lots of things behind. At least it wasn't like the pioneers who just had a tiny space in a wagon or handcart.
Wednesday January 24th.
Omaha here we come. The pictures of the snow in Wyoming, and the Lincoln Monument between Laramie and Cheyenne Wyoming.
We drove all day to Kimball Nebraska. It was pretty uneventful except for the blowing and drifting snow between Rawlins and Cheyenne Wyoming, but after that the road was great and we stopped before dark.
Thursday January 25th
Got up and drove from Kimball Nebraska to Omaha arriving at 4:45 pm CST. Pictures of the Gate Way Arch in Kearney Nebraska, and our apartment. The missionary couple over apartments helped us move in. We got settled into the apartment and decided we needed to go shopping. The Google maps on my phone did not work great. We drove around about an hour until we found Walmart, and Dollar Tree. Finally got back to apartment. By 1:00am we could finally settle down for the night.
Friday January 26th
Today we met President and Sister Gardner, the mission President and his wife. they were very happy to see us and gave us an assignment to be members of the Old Mill ward, and gave us good information. We met many Sisters and Elders :)
Saturday January 27th
Early morning meeting with the Senior Missionaries and sisters at the Trail Center. We met Elder and Sister Russell the directors of the Trail Center. We were asked to share our testimonies. Then we went with them to Council Bluff to the Kanesville Tabernacle for training on how to operate the Visitor Center there. After a 3 hour training with the Russells and Scanlan's, the Russells took us to lunch. That night we tried to learn as much as we could from trail center and tabernacle guides.
Sunday January 28th,
We were at the Tabernacle today for our 2 1/2 hour shift. and again received training from Elder and Sister Russell. There is a lot of technical stuff to learn, and then how to take people through the Tabernacle and what information they are trying to convey. We attended church at the Old Mill Ward which is right across the road from Boys Town, a national landmark. Sister White and I were asked to share our testimonies in Sacrament Meeting and each said prayers in Priesthood Meeting and Relief Society. After dinner we had dessert with Elder and Sister Scanlan from the MTC who we will work with for the next 18 months.
