First Week in The Field

Monday January 29th
Sunday  Elder Randy and Sister Charlotte Russell trained us how to open and close the Kanesville Tabernacle. Monday we met the Russells for a tour of the Trail Center, we were shown the process of a tour through the center. We had the opportunity to be there on the night of the Senior Dinner. Once a month we get together with the Senior Couple for a pot luck dinner.

Met early at the Trail Center for more training.  We were given our pass keys to open and close building. Worked a short shift. Our friends from the MTC Elder and Sister Zimmerman took a tour on their way to New York. Then to our apartment for study and rest

Wednesday January 31st
Today would have been my dad's 104th birthday, it was a day of training at Zone Conference. We went early only to find we had the wrong address, all seniors from the Trail Center were at the wrong site! We had to travel to the other side of Omaha for the meeting. The training was the use of Smart Phones so the seniors just listened, sent up their tablets and waited for lunch.  Great lunch provided by Relief Society Sisters and pictures were taken. Then the training continued on about not giving up and the church is true and our work is not in vain. What do we know about the Savior that the world does not know from the Scriptures? In our Mission we can go farther with the Savior's help.

First Shift alone, we had to close the Trail Center. A young man who was fixing the roof took a tour.  Met Sister Price from Syracuse Utah, niece of Doug Stoddard. We closed the building and had to take 4 Sisters home.

Friday Feb 2nd
Opened the Trail Center on our shift, Paul gave his first tour with 2 sisters from Idaho. Had a good shift. Went shopping and drove through downtown Omaha.

Kainesville Tabernacle

Saturday February 3rd

Sisters we Serve with
Opened the Tabernacle today and got to study about the History of Council Bluffs and the area.  Found out that one of our ancestors was married in the Kainesville Tabernacle. Mary Ann Huntsman married John Hyrum Green, the year it was dedicated. Also Peter Huntsman her father is buried in the cemetery in Hastings Iowa, that is close to Indian Springs. The greatest thing that happened today was we were both set apart as Temple Workers in the Winter Quarters Temple. Both of us will learn how to be ordinance workers for two Friday sessions and help in the Missionary Sessions.

Sunday February 4th
Cold here today. When we opened the Trail Center this morning wind was blowing with a touch of snow and a really cold temperature.  We had only one tour today and that was a older sister who was a convert to the church and her friend and daughter. They are traveling from Missouri and stopped by, they are members but enjoyed the tour. We attended church in our Ward here in Omaha. Got home and had dinner and resting for the rest of the night.
