Oct 14th - 20th

This week was pretty busy, following church on Sunday we had a great opportunity to go to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Following the Missouri River north we arrived in Sioux Falls before the sun went down and after a good night's rest got up on Monday to 28 degree weather. Winter feels like it arrived in South Dakota. We were able to go visit the famous falls and walk in the Falls Park. We found most of the other sights in Sioux Falls and in Sioux City were closed because it was Columbus Day. We did get to drive to Minnesota and we can say we  visited, only if we went to a rest area and turned around. Most couples who had been on this trip visited the Candy Factory in Sioux Falls but it was closed and in Sioux City the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Factory but it was closed, a great day of driving and conversation with my companion.





We worked at both the Tabernacle and Trail Center and then on Thursday some of the family came out for the Last Time. We had a house full for a couple of nights. While they were here we did the usual, we walked the Bridge and had tours of the Tabernacle and Trail Center, some did Temple work at Winter Quarters Temple

Friday morning we started for Liberty Jail and Missouri sites and a few miles outside Council Bluffs Paulynn blew a fire on her car. After changing the tire it was decided to head to Nauvoo.  We were able to go to Mt Pisgah, and Garden Grove, finally getting to Nauvoo around 9:00pm.



The next morning we were able to go to the Nauvoo Temple and do sealings with Paulynn, Andrew, and Pam,  Paulynns friend and it was a great experience. Then on to Carthage Jail and the Blacksmith Shop, Brick shop, and wagon ride. All the homes and visitors center's close at 5:00pm. We went to the Trail of Hope, Joseph Smith grave, beautiful women statues,  and back to the Temple after dark. 


We left Nauvoo about7:00 pm headed back to Omaha.

We arrived back in Omaha about 2:30 am 

After church the kids went home where they got stranded in Wyoming in the snow!! It was a fast paced four day adventure!! So glad we could be apart of it!!

Christmastime at Winter Quarters is exciting.  This has been a busy week with Zone Conference, Gingerbread, and many Sister Missionaries leaving the Trail Center for home, but a thought about Christmas shared at our Trail Center Training on Saturday morning we thought you would enjoy. April 16th -22nd

Heber C Kimball, Brigham Young, Willard Richards, This week was spent working mostly at the Kainesville Tabernacle. The Tabernacle is the location in church History where on December 27, 1847.  Brigham Young was sustained by the members of the Church as President of the Church. with Heber C Kimball and Willard Richards sustained as his counselors.  It is one of those places not often visited by people on the Church History tours. Located in Council Bluffs, Iowa it is a peaceful and sacred place. In the Tabernacle is where Oliver Cowdery came back to the Church and was baptized in a creek in the area.  In our family history Mary Ann Huntsman was married to Thomas Green by Orson Hyde in the tabernacle on January 31 1849. March 5th - 11th

Windows Celestial Room facing Cemetery Another busy week here at Winter Quarters and some new things to experience. Tours are picking up with more people visiting both the Trail Center and the Tabernacle. Had tours in both places this week.  We had a great experience Tuesday night. We were invited to the Mission President's home to have dinner with the 11 new missionaries (8 Elders and 3 Sisters). They arrived Monday night and on Tuesday they had dinner and a Testimony Meeting, then they got their first assignment and who they will be training with.  We were invited because we just missed the last new missionary dinner. It was a very spiritual experience. Wednesday we were able to serve in the Temple when the departing Missionaries got to go before they went home the next day.
