October 1st - 7th

Conference week is exciting here in the Mission Field.  Missionaries excited to listen and speculate what is going to happen, members coming through on there way to Conference with tickets to attend, and just overall excitement.  A couple of Sister Missionaries want to make sure that when the announcement would be made about Missionaries to China, be sure to come and tell us so we can put our papers in for another mission. Another Couple speculated that a temple would be announced in China. Just a lot of speculation. Truly it was an inspiring Conference.

It has been a rainy fall so far in Nebraska. I wish our friends in Utah had all this rain, it make for dark days here. We love it here serving. This week on Preparation Day we got to go to the Zoo, just to walk around. It is an amazing Zoo. It was raining but the indoor exhibits were great. I love the Butterfly house and Sister White loves the Aquarium. It is great doing things together.

My Favorite quote from Conference is by President Nelson

“We know that our time in the temple is crucial to our salvation and exaltation and to that of our families'," President Nelson said. "After we receive our own temple ordinances and make sacred covenants with God, each one of us needs the ongoing spiritual strengthening and tutoring that is only possible in the house of the Lord. And our ancestors need us to serve as proxy for them."

Noting that the attacks of the adversary are increasing "exponentially and in intensity and in variety," President Nelson said our need to be in the temple on a regular basis has never been greater. Urging members who live close to a temple to invest their time in temple attendance, President Nelson also encouraged members to make a regular appointment with the Lord in the temple and keep it with exactness.

"I promise you that the Lord will bring you the miracles He knows you need as you make sacrifices to serve and worship in His temples," President Nelson said.

Christmastime at Winter Quarters is exciting.  This has been a busy week with Zone Conference, Gingerbread, and many Sister Missionaries leaving the Trail Center for home, but a thought about Christmas shared at our Trail Center Training on Saturday morning we thought you would enjoy. April 16th -22nd

Heber C Kimball, Brigham Young, Willard Richards, This week was spent working mostly at the Kainesville Tabernacle. The Tabernacle is the location in church History where on December 27, 1847.  Brigham Young was sustained by the members of the Church as President of the Church. with Heber C Kimball and Willard Richards sustained as his counselors.  It is one of those places not often visited by people on the Church History tours. Located in Council Bluffs, Iowa it is a peaceful and sacred place. In the Tabernacle is where Oliver Cowdery came back to the Church and was baptized in a creek in the area.  In our family history Mary Ann Huntsman was married to Thomas Green by Orson Hyde in the tabernacle on January 31 1849. March 5th - 11th

Windows Celestial Room facing Cemetery Another busy week here at Winter Quarters and some new things to experience. Tours are picking up with more people visiting both the Trail Center and the Tabernacle. Had tours in both places this week.  We had a great experience Tuesday night. We were invited to the Mission President's home to have dinner with the 11 new missionaries (8 Elders and 3 Sisters). They arrived Monday night and on Tuesday they had dinner and a Testimony Meeting, then they got their first assignment and who they will be training with.  We were invited because we just missed the last new missionary dinner. It was a very spiritual experience. Wednesday we were able to serve in the Temple when the departing Missionaries got to go before they went home the next day.
