We gave our farewell talk in church Sunday morning. Then had a family get-together when family and friends came to greet us. We were able to meet our family, a lot of our friends from the Midvale Ward, and from our home ward who came to have brunch with us. Following the brunch we had a family party with a pinata and were able to play some games. At 3:00 that afternoon President Wilkes and Bishop Walker came to set us apart. We had a wonderful meeting with our family where our children could specially talk to us, their parents and about their feelings toward us, each other and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Following that we went to a family picture at Woodland Park which is always fun to take a family picture and get the children in line. We came back to Paulynn's house & had dinner and talked and said goodbye to all of our family what a great day! We packed a few more things for the Missionary Training Center and then we went to bed already excited for the next phase of our training it was a great send-off.

We arrived at the Missionary Training Center, We even have Name Tags! Here we are the first day at the MTC and have gone through quite a bit of training. We have had two meals and we're already stuffed! I was chosen as District leader for our training district. I really don't know what that entails but I'll work hard on it. After dinner tonight we went to a family home evening and they shared with us a talk from Elder Bednar about turning outward as our Savior did. We need to become like the Savior and turn out to reach other people. We are now ready for bed, ready to rest and anxious to be fed again tomorrow.

Second day of training at the Missionary Training Center. Today was quite an eventful day with the announcement of the new first presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was great to sit with all the missionaries and listen to President Nelson's address. We have been learning today about the Book of Mormon and how it converts people to the church. Tonight the Tuesday night devotional at the Missionary Training Center was Elder Whitney Clayton who talked about the Book of Mormon and its power of conversion to members and non-members of the church. The Missionary Training Center is huge, especially when you walk from one end to the other. Today we walked down and back TWICE! We saw the beautiful MTC murals which give us much to ponder about. We are exhausted tonight and hopefully will rest well.We are finding our place on mapJanuary 17thToday is Wednesday and we are really enjoying our stay at the MTC. We were able to train and teach other people. We attended training on apps for the phones and the Kindle and mom made a great progress on learning how to use the Kindle to train. This afternoon we were able to teach a 20-minute discussion to a family. We are having a great time. Tonight we met in the lobby with a lot of our fellow missionaries. Mom locked both keys in our room! Good thing the office wasn't closed yet and we could get back in. Our training is being very well presented. Our trainers are great! They are very knowledgeable, caring and professional. The DistrictWe Found Elder Andrew HackingJanuary 18Today is Thursday our fourth day of training at the Missionary Training Center. Sister White has been so confused with electronic media and has had trouble trying to figure out how to work our Kendall. Today we had a very spiritual experience in the fact that we were able to teach our assigned couple. They only gave us 20 minutes preparation time to teach another lesson. It was a good experience, the spirit was so strong that we felt that we were really being blessed by our Father in Heaven. We also felt His help when later this afternoon our wonderful trainer Elder Staili taught us how to approach people, to find their needs by asking questions, then help meet their needs by bearing testimony to them that the gospel is true and the Lord will help them. We are so amazed that the young people are such outstanding teachers here at the Missionary Training Center they are wonderful young people .The Missionary Training Center has a flu bug going around, no handshakes,no Hugs, and wash all the timeFriday the 19th was our last training day for Preach my Gospel. We were able to learn some final techniques and also taught an elderly sister who volunteers. She was such a wonderful person she reminded me of both my Grandma White and my mom when she was older. The training went well. We said goodbye to Sister Richie who had trained us all week. In the afternoon we went to a training exercise that was a summary of all the things we did at the Missionary Training Center this week. Following that we went to dinner and rested for the remainder of the evening.Provo City Center TempleSaturday January 20thWe were able to wake up to snow at the Missionary Training Center. We sat around our apartment to watch the snow and read and were able to get things done. After lunch we went to the Provo City Center Temple. It is really beautiful inside the temple and we were able to attend the session. Following that we went to visit the Provo Temple and mom went inside to see what it looks like. Didn't get very far because you can't go much farther than the lobby without going through a session. We came home and rested the rest of the night. Got ready for Sunday.
