Sep 17th  - 23rd A wonderful week of missionary work her in Nebraska, the weather has cooled down and is beginning to become fall. The farmers are cutting their corn and the fields are looking like the harvest is happening. Pumpkin patches are appearing around the area. We had some interesting tours this week at the Tabernacle, A family from Australia who is visiting the United States for a year going to all the Church sites.. Then a family from Switzerland who is here for 5 weeks touring around. They were on their way from Nauvoo to Salt Lake. They are so excited to have tickets to the Sunday Morning session of General Conference and have tickets to BYU vs USU football game. A lot of couples going home from a,  temple mission in Nauvoo. The temple is closing for three months so missionaries were released. They are excited to be home but sad that the mission is over. With General Conference coming up We would like to recommend reading a talk by President Ezra Taft Benson t...

Heber C Kimball,  President Brigham Young, Willard Richards This week has been a great week. We were able to work both at the Mormon Trail Center and the Tabernacle.  Many interesting tours from people taking children to school to BYU or BYU - IDAHO. We had a couple of families who sold all their property and quit their jobs to move to Maine and Florida.  Some couples were traveling to do genealogy in the area. All great tours and all wonderful people. First Presidency 1847   Our Stake Conference had great talks and training. The visiting  area authority, talked about the Sabbath Day by reading “The Sabbath Is a Delight” by Elder Russell M. Nelson  (April 2015), Reading the Book of Mormon by reading “The Power of the Book of Mormon” by President Thomas S. Monson (April 2017), Simplify life, by reading “Be Anxiously Engaged” by Elder M. THE STANDARD. IF TRUTH HAS BEEN ERECTED

Image
Sept 3rd - 9th The standard of truth has been erected; No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the great Jehovah shall say the work is done.” Joseph Smith, History of the Church, 4:540. Winter Quarters and Kanesville Tabernacle area is such a great area to see how the Lord blessed the Saints and when you think that within a radius is 325 miles so much church history occurred here. From 1831 to 1852  our History was written here in this 325 mile circle. Adam-ondi-Ahman 168 miles  South is Independence, Missouri. , in 1831 members of the Latter Day Saint movement began moving to the Jackson County, Missouri area. Shortly thereafter, Joseph S...

Aug 27th - Sep 2nd Working this week as usual. The Missionary work is going well. We have had a decrease of people visiting us here at Winter Quarters. We will see a few tours a week, but the summer traffic is slowing down. We are still being busy doing other things. Sister White was in charge of our monthly Senior dinner. She was a stressed by it, but after all the planning it came off really well. The dinner was great and the activity we enjoyable. (Remember always, All things are possible with the Lord's help) After taking a mission survey, I realized I need to increase my efforts to feel the Spirit even more. Elder White takes daily tours, what could help me?  So it was interesting that as I sat at the desk one father on tour came over and shared a picture he had just taken with me (which has never happened before). As he continued to talk I found they had just met the 5 year old boy they had donated their 2 month old son's heart to when he was 8 months old. ...
